At FM Conway we actively push the fantastic career opportunities that the construction industry offers and are always looking at ways to encourage young people to consider and experience the world of construction.

Whether you’re coming straight from school or college, or already have a few years’ experience and are looking for a career change, you will be supported every step of the way.

 

Work Experience

Work experience is a vital way for young people to gain an insight into the working world. At FM Conway, we are driven to not only invest in the development of our people but also to the future generations and emerging talent of construction.

Work experience provides the opportunity of personal, professional, and academic growth.

Each work experience programme is tailored to suit the needs of the participant but always includes:
 
  • Exploration of their interests, strengths, values, and professional identity
  • Industry knowledge, career insights, and career paths
  • Developing interpersonal skills and engaging in professional networking
  • Opportunities to demonstrate their abilities and practical expertise in a real world setting
  • Confidence building and developing soft skills
  • Support to transition from education to the working environment

The Conway Week

At FM Conway, we offer work experience placements through The Conway Week, which is a predetermined week available twice a year.

Each week provides up to 15 places for young people who follow a business orientation programme, take part in site visits, careers information workshops, and work ready skills in first aid and health and safety.

They are open to students aged 14 – 18 and the application form can be obtained from talent@fmconway.co.uk.

Undergraduates

Our Emerging Talent team, supported by our Careers in Construction Ambassadors, as well as the wider business, work closely to support students who are looking for a career within the construction industry.

Inspire Scholarships Programme

FM Conway is proud of the success of our undergraduate placement scheme, our Inspire Programme.

Designed for university students studying towards a degree that are based in and around London, and the South-East during summer break.

This programme offers:

  • 6-8 weeks paid work experience during the summer break
  • Sponsorship of £1,500 per annum paid in two instalments in October and February
  • An Inspire mentor selected from our experienced team of senior managers to support your experience and learning
  • A great way to showcase your talent to us and the potential of a job at FM Conway when you graduate
