Recycled Aggregates

Recycling is embedded in FM Conway’s culture and is an essential part of our self-delivery model. We recycle highways and construction wastes at our four recycling plants where we operate a range of crushing, washing, and grading equipment.

Asphalt Recycling

At least 98% of all highway arisings from our construction projects are recovered and recycled. The Recycled Asphalt Product (RAP) is used in our asphalt plants to supply construction sites across London and the South-East of England. This process compliments the FM Conway self-delivery model.

As an operator of a large haulage fleet, we help our customers remove wastes from their sites. Alternatively, customers are welcome to tip asphalt planings and asphalt breakout wastes at our recycling sites using their own haulage.

FM Conway is also licensed to accept Asphalt Waster Containing Coal Tar (AWCCT) waste, that is typically classified as hazardous. FM Conway ensures compliance with the Hazardous Waste Regulations, Duty of Care, and the latest guidance from the Environment Agency.

Concrete Recycling

Concrete wastes from FM Conway’s own construction projects are recycled in-house. We produce high quality recycled aggregates for the construction market.

Our washing plant produces high quality washed recycled aggregate and wherever possible, we use these materials in concrete production through our fleet of volumetric concrete mixers.

FM Conway manufactures the following recycled aggregate products for sale:

  • Type 1 sub-base SHW cl.803
  • 0/4mm recycled sharp sand
  • 4/20mm washed recycled aggregate
  • 0/20mm recycled all-in ballast

All recycled aggregates are produced in accordance with an Integrated Management System demonstrating compliance with the Quality Protocol for Recycled Aggregate and industry standards such as the Specification for Highway Works.

The location guide shows all of FM Conway’s recycling operations.
