The Art of Keeping a Tight Squad
Unit Manager Matt Lavery and his steady team of operatives provide the qualities and skills needed to maintain a high level of productivity, while keeping things fun, light-hearted, and focused.
Nothing is ever too much trouble for Matt. With a background in the gas industry and surfacing, Matt’s biggest achievement at FM Conway has been providing differentiated training to each team member in under 12 months. Everyone is fully First-Aid trained - ensuring safety and readiness in every situation.
It’s no secret that plant and machinery can sometimes fail, so when we asked Matt how he manages such challenges, his response was: "Roll up our sleeves and get the job done, no matter what."
Meet the Whole Team
Croydon staffs 10 Multi-Skilled Operatives - each bringing a unique skill set and a passion for the job. Low staff turnover, combined with frequent smiles, banter, and mutual respect, makes for a positive and supportive working environment.
Matt is passionate about career progression and believes in nurturing his team’s development. Outside of work, he plays football and regularly trains in CrossFit.
Regular customers will be greeted by Ella, who has recently expanded her skill set by obtaining her Loading Shovel Ticket, Telehandler, and Scissor Lift licences. Then there’s Barnaby, Site Supervisor - a long-standing member of the team with an impressive 24 years’ experience working onsite at Croydon. He leaves no stone unturned. Vito, Marcus, Jason, Ella, Andrew, Ernst, Ros, and Armane make up the rest of the squad. Every member brings their individual strengths to the table, making the whole team stronger.
